The household recycling campaigns were carried out in deprived areas where there were a high percentage of families who have low income levels. Evidence has shown that household recycling is generally low in these areas as residents struggle to prioritise waste reduction and recycling in their lives.

Each campaign was developed by working with the communities involved via surveys and focus groups to develop communication materials and events that were relevant and appealed to the targeted community.
